General Information

Airport
Beijing Capital International Airport is the center of China 's civil aviation network. It is located in the northeast direction of Beijing and is some 25km from the Tian'anmen Square centre of the city, and traveling in the same direction, is 18km from the official congress hotels.

Transportation
Delegates can best travel to and from the airport to their hotel by taxi, the price is approximately 80 yuan (8US$) . . Depending on traffic and the time of day, the time to travel from the airport to the congress hotels/v enue is between 30 minutes and one hour.
The congress venue (BICC) is situated next door to the two congress hotels and so no daily transportation will be required between the BICC and congress hotels. Partner programme participants will leave each day from directly outside the BICC, as will the buses departing or arriving back from any technical tour visits or social events.

Money
The currency of China is the Yuan. Credit cards (AMEX, VISA, Mastercard, etc) are accepted in the congress hotels, several larger restaurants and in most up-market shops in the inner city. Cash payment is necessary in markets, at tourist attractions and in general when dining or shopping in most areas. ATM (cash) machines are available in the congress hotels and in main commercial districts. Whatever you are buying the prices are net, however where fixed prices are not displayed (e.g. in markets and shops) you may negotiate prices.

Weather
Beijing is in a temperate climatic zone. The weather in Beijing in September is usually fine and warm with an average temperature of around 20 degrees. We recommend bringing a light jacket in case of showers.

Congress Registration and Information Desk
The registration site is set in the meeting hall of the Beijing International Convention Centre (BICC), located in Beiyuan of An Dingmen, Chaoyang District, Beijing .
We will arrange for an information desk to be situated in the meeting hall of the BICC to offer information services to congress participants.
Congress Venue
The Beijing International Convention Centre (BICC) is located in the northern part of Beijing . It is only 18km from Beijing Capital International Airport , some 9km from the Forbidden City, Tian'anmen Square , Summer Palace and the Silk Market, and just 7km from Shangdi Hi-tech Zone and the Silicon Valley of Beijing. It is within 1km walking distance of the 2008 Olympic Games Park.
The BICC is situated next door to the two main congress hotels: The Crown Plaza Beijing an the Beijing Continental Grand Hotel.

Interpretation
Simultaneous interpretation will be offered during all plenary sessions of the congress. English, French, Spanish and Chinese translation will be offered to delegates. Other language translation of may also be offered if delegate numbers are high enough to warrant it.
Dress Code
Delegates are expected to wear business attire during the congress sessions. We will arrange a visit to Shun Xin Shimen Wholesale Market on the last day of the Congress, and when visiting the market, delegates may wear leisure clothes or comfortable suits for the sake of convenience. We suggest for evening dinners that delegates wear: Persons participating in the partner programme are encouraged to dress casually and wear comfortable walking shoes.

Pre and Post Congress Technical /Market Visits
CAWA will be happy to provide information support to those persons wishing to visit any of their member wholesale markets while in China for the 25th WUWM Congress. They can also assist congress delegates who may wish to make technical visits to grower/production regions within the country.
